Northgate, Modesto: my own neighborhood.
I've lived in Northgate for about three years. Here's what it's really like from someone who walks its streets every day: where it is, what the homes are like, and my favorite places nearby.
Where is Northgate?
Northgate sits between Sherwood and Fremont in Modesto. That puts you close to McHenry Village and just down the street from the Virginia Corridor Trail.
Why I live here
I moved to Modesto about three years ago for love. My partner and his family are here, and he knows Modesto and the Central Valley well. He's been my private tour guide ever since, and Northgate is where we made our home.
The homes
Northgate is made up of single-story, semi-custom ranch homes on big lots, and many of them have pools. No two look quite the same, and the yards give you room to spread out.
I love my neighborhood. My neighbors are friendly and look out for each other, and every year Northgate hosts a big National Night Out with a great turnout. I went my first year here and loved it.

- The Virginia Corridor Trail, my favorite place to walk, just down the street
- Dutch Bros on McHenry Avenue for my coffee
- McHenry Village, where I do most of my shopping: Village Health Foods (my favorite health food store), Sprouts, Paper Habit (where I buy my client Christmas cards every year), Mulberry Lane (a great gift shop that turns into a Christmas wonderland for the season) and Gifts of Faith, where I bought my son his first "grown-up" Bible the last time he came to visit (he's 27)
